A fantastical fairytale, commenting on the care system and questioning who is responsible for societies most vulnerable children.
This required a collaborative, devising based approach which allowed the design to develop through play with in the rehearsal room from my initial drawings and concepts
PROCESS
I WANTED THE SET TO FEEL LIKE THE TWINS PLAYGROUND THAT THEY USE TO TELL THEIR STORY, HOWEVER STILL CAPTURE THEIR FEELINGS OF BEING DISCARDED, THEREFORE I RESEARCHED INTO JUNK PLAYGROUNDS AND FOUMD REFERENCES FOR HOW IT COULD APPEAR THAT THEY WERE LIGHTING THE SHOW THEMSELVES.
PUPPETRY
THE PUPPETRY HAD TO READ AS BEING FROM THE SAME LANDSCAPE OF BEING FROM A TIP OR HAVE A MAKE SHIFT CHARM THAT FELT LIKE THE TWINS MADE THEM
REHEARSAL PHOTOS
THE NATURE OF THE DESIGN REQUIRED A LOT OF PLAY AND CHANGE IN THE REHEARSAL ROOM, MEANING I WAS VERY PRESENT, OFFERING IDEAS FOR DEFINING THE DIFFERENT SPACES
